Highlights from 2014

As the year of 2014 is coming to an end, it’s really interesting to see how far we have come since the beginning of the year. The time has flown away quickly, with a lot of stuff that have happened. We have therefore gathered some of the highlights.

JanuaryUniversity of Stavanger published an article on our first customer, which wasn’t the usual early adopter, but a 90 year old grandmother living at home. By doing this, we wanted to show that smart homes is in fact for everyone.

April – After working hard with development we were anxious to present our solution to the public at the Home Owners Expo, Boligmessen. Local media helped us with some publicity on young entrepreneurs, and here you can read an article and watch a video of it. The Expo went very well and we gained valuable experience.

June – We finished our second round of funding exactly one year after our first funding with incubator Ipark. June 27th is a lucky day for us, and is internally known as Funding Day. This funding gave us the the resources we needed to finish our first version of the product and get ready to scale up operations.

August – Launching of the new interface version and new logo was interesting. We collaborated well with EGGS Design to create an user friendly experience and was very pleased with the new logo.

September – Launching of the crowdfunding campaign was an anxious periode as we didn’t know what to expect. We knew little of what we were in for; extremely hard work day and night to reach our goal of 200 000 dollars. When we completed the campaign in early November, one hour before the deadline, we were exhausted but happy. Hard work does pay off.

We got some publicity during the campaign and this article from Teknisk Ukeblad sums up Future Home. There was a lot of stunts and events to reach the goal. Among other things there was a “Control our Office – Chaos Mode” which you can see below. In addition to that we also won the Hardwarethon at the NuTek startup conference, which was a great prestige for us.

November – We were honored to be on the “Next to watch” list from Startup Norway and Innovation Norway. Erik even got a speed date with Innovation Norway and its new CEO Anita Krohn Traaseth.

December – As we were preparing to work hard to deliver our smart home solution to our crowdfunding supporters, we got some good news. Our crowdfunding campaign is in fact confirmed as the second largest crowdfunding campaign in Norway to date.

Crowdfunding succesful

As the year is coming to an end, we are preparing for a new exiting year and we are certain that 2015 is going to be even better than 2014. We are looking forward to create memorable moments with you the next year also, so have a happy New Year!
