Futurehome is a Norwegian tech-startup, founded in Stavanger, 2013. Since then, the smart home company has grown considerably and now employs over 25 people, with offices in Stavanger, Oslo, Bergen and Trondheim. We have built a state-of-the-art product, and teamed up with powerful investors. Today, with partners such as Get, Bravida, Norgeseliten, Berggård Amundsen, Nordan, Gilje, ID-Lock and Zaptec, Futurehome proudly supplies one of the most user friendly smart home systems on the market.
Everything started in a basement where the best ever ‘man cave’ was about to be created, with all the requisite electronic gadgetry and cool modern conveniences. It quickly became a great source of irritation to find that none of the electronic systems worked with each other and that each one had it’s own remote control or switch. Why isn’t there a simple user friendly solution that allows all these gadgets to talk to each other?! This is why we started to develop an app with simple controls so we could get the ‘man-cave’ functioning optimally. With one click the lights went off, the projector came to life and the blinds closed to darken the room. Gradually we began to realize that there was no good reason not to add controls for lights, heating and security in the rest of the house!
Due to our previous experience with installations we could see a new market opportunity opening up. As none of the existing smart home suppliers could offer a solution which was easy to set up for electricians, reasonably priced and user-friendly enough for the customer.
This is how the idea of Futurehome and smarter homes first began to take shape in 2012, and we havn’t looked back since.
Futurehome has a different approach to smarthomes and how it should be done. Two of our founders have backgrounds in electrical installation and are qualified electricians. Our focus has therefore been to create a user-friendly smarthome system which is easy for a professional to install. This means that our electricians have effective digital tools at their disposal to facilitate faster and more efficient installations, which in turn halves the cost for consumers compared to competing products/solutions/systems.
We take it as given that our customers want a user-friendly app which is compatible with the best smart devices. That’s why our aim is always to be first to market with the latest device support and to offer functions and solutions no-one else can!
